I’m a huge fan of a foundation stick versus a liquid foundation simply due to the fact that liquid is so messy.
My first foundation stick was by Prescriptives, however, it’s no longer available … so, it was back to the drawing board! After trying a multitude of stick foundations that I didn’t like because they were either too heavy or too greasy or too cakey, I finally found Bobbi Brown’s Foundation Stick and I’m delighted!
Bobbi Brown earned a degree in theatrical makeup and became a successful makeup artist in New York City before she and a chemist created a lipstick line in 1991 which debuted at Bergdorf Goodmans. The success of this lipstick line led Estee Lauder to buy the company in 1995 and an entire makeup line was born. Bobbi is featured frequently on television as not only a makeup expert, but she also teaches those of us over forty how to look younger with makeup.
One of her tips that I’ve always remembered is to only apply foundation where you need it — it doesn’t need to be applied to your entire face. For that reason, I love how simple it is to use a stick foundation. I use my fingers for application, however, it’s just as lovely to apply with a brush or a sponge if you prefer. The stick makes it very controllable to achieve a light coverage with a natural finish and it blends easily and seamlessly. You may like the dewy finish your skin will have or I like to apply a light setting powder on top.
Whether you’re a novice or a veteran, Bobbi Brown’s Foundation Stick is a perfect “starter” foundation or a veteran’s best friend. The fact that it’s easily portable too is just an added bonus!
